THe first amendment
The First Amendment of The Bill of Rights was created to ensure that there was freedom of religion. This Amendment also protects our freedom of speech. Although, this Amendment protects freedom of the press it doesn't allow the press to defame a person or corporation. It also gives the people the right to assemble peacefully. Finally it gives the people the right to complain or get assistance from our government without fear that we will get punished for speaking out.

the second amendment
The Second Amendment gives the right to the people to keep and bear arms. Even though people have the right to bear arms the government can limit in some cases the purchase of fire arms and other similar devices. This Amendment was influenced by the English Bill of Rights so that the people could self-defense and react to any oppression that was against their new freedoms.
the third amendment
The Third Amendment of the Bill of Rights does not allow the government to force people to house soldiers in their own homes without the home owners permission. In time of peace this action is strictly forbidden. The reason why the Third Amendment was created is because during the American Revolutionary War the British Army was allowed to hose soldiers in private homes. This Amendment has never gone to court to this day.
the fourth amendment
The Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights prohibits peace officers to reasonably search and seize property without a warrant from the court. In addition they must have probable cause. This became a part of the Bill of Rights because during the pre-Revolutionary War the British were abusing the people in the states.
the fifth amendment
The Fifth Amendment of the Bill of Rights protects a person from being forced to testify against himself in a court case. A common term used which is "Pleading the Fifth" means that a person will not answer a question in court because it might get him/her in trouble. If the defendant "Pleads the Fifth" the jury or judge cannot punish the person for refusing to answer a question.
the sixth amendment
The Sixth Amendment of the Bill of Rights discusses how the rights of an individual should be handled in a criminal prosecution. The defendant has a right to a speedy trial and a public trial. It also states that the defendant has a right to a fair and impartial jury.
the seventh amendment
The Seventh Amendment of the Bill of Rights was made so that it would not allow certain court rulings to be overturned. This Amendment was considered one of the most straight forward amendments of the Bill of Rights. This Amendment ensures that there will be six court members available in a civil trial.
the eighth amendment
The Eighth Amendment of the Bill of Rights prohibits that the federal government impose excessive finds or bail and imposing cruel and unusual punishment. This rule is identical to the English Bill of Rights. It was adopted by our Bill of Rights because of a case of a man in England who was wrongly accused and whipped horribly while moving a cart. The death penalty today is seen by some people aas cruel and unusual punishment.
the ninth amendment
The Ninth Amendment of the Bill of Rights is a statement that simply says that just because something is not listed in the Bill of Rights does not mean that a government can violate these rights. It reserves the rights of the people and the states to create more rights if there is a need.
the tenth amendment
The Tenth Amendment of the Bill of Rights states that the principle of federalism which basically supports the Constitution he the United States by saying that the federal government has the powers only given by the United States. All other powers are given to the states or the people.
